Abstract

Georgia DOT Project # N-AD-20-1(3) is an in-place bridge replacement project at St. Mary’s street bridge at Tidal Creek in Camden County. Because the project is in-place, no new areas will be impacted. Only those areas which have been disturbed by previous bridge construction will be affected. For this reason, no archaeological field inspection is necessary and the archaeological resources of the state will not be affected. The proposed project will consist of the widening and resurfacing of Dillworth Street in St. Mary’s and the replacement of the existing narrow bridge with a double 9 foot by 4-foot concrete box culvert. Traffic will be detoured over other city streets during the short period that the culvert is being constructed. The structure will be placed at its present location. The existing 34-foot-long bridge is to be replaced with a concrete box culvert.
