Abstract

Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed an Archaeological Assessment for the federal undertaking at the proposed subject site. The proposed undertaking includes a 10-foot by 10-foot (3-meter by 3-meter) area that would include a proposed 72-foot tall overall height pole structure. The proposed subject site is located near the intersection of Meredyth Drive & North Westover Boulevard, Albany, Dougherty County, Georgia.

ECA conducted a Phase I Archaeological Assessment of the Area of Potential Effects (APE) consisting of background research, field investigations, and preparation of this report. The APE for direct effects includes a proposed 10-foot by 10-foot (3-meter by 3-meter) pole site and all the immediately adjacent areas.

This Archaeological Assessment was conducted in order to ascertain whether the proposed undertaking, on the project site, might directly or indirectly affect cultural resources, if any such resources exist. A search of the Georgia Archaeological Site File (GASF) identified no previously recorded archaeological sites and 1 previously recorded cultural resource report (8754) within a 1-mile background research radius, but outside our APE for direct effects.

We conclude that the undertaking would not affect any historic or prehistoric archaeological resources that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Therefore, for archaeological cultural resources, we recommend a finding of No Effect for the undertaking at the project site.
