Abstract

Pursuant to R.S. Webb & Associates ' proposal (95-019-00lp) to Security Capital Industrial Trust dated February 10, 1995, the Harmony Cemetery was researched, delineated and recorded. The study was conducted by Mr. Robert S. Webb (Principal Investigator and Co-Field Director) and Ms. Mary E. Gantt (Researcher and Co-Field Director) between February 23, 1995 and March 2, 1995. The cemetery is located in Norcross, Georgia which is in Gwinnett County (Figure 1). The tract containing Harmony Cemetery is approximately 0.75 acres (Figure 2). A Georgia Power transmission line corridor is located 40 feet northwest of the cemetery (Figure 3), while a railroad spur is located about 750 feet to the southeast. The cemetery is accessible from Best Friend Park southwest along the Georgia Power transmission line corridor. Research was conducted to determine the approximate age of Harmony Cemetery and if historically significant individuals are buried there. The research was conducted at the Gwinnett County courthouse in Lawrenceville, the Gwinnett County Historical Society in Lawrenceville, the Georgia State Archives in Atlanta and the University of Georgia Science Library map room in Athens.
