Abstract

In July 2000 , R.S. Webb & Associates conducted a Phase-I cultural resources survey of the proposed Brazells Creek Golf Course 89 hectare (220-acre) addition at Gordonia-Altamaha State Park in Tattnall County. The survey was conducted under contract with CCR Environmental, Inc. on behalf of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Parks Division. The purpose of the study was to locate and identify cultural resources within the proposed project area and assess cultural resource significance based on National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) criteria (36 CFR Part 60.4) . The survey included a literature/records search and an intensive field survey of the project area. The project area is located about 1.7 kilometers northwest of the Tattnall County seat of Reidsville. The study tract is bounded on the south by Brazells Creek, by U.S. Highway 280 on the west and by Lynntown Road on the east.
