Abstract

On January 27, 2020, ERM archaeologists Verna Gentil and Emily Jones conducted a site visit at 1340 Old Highway 27, Walker County Georgia, for a proposed communication project under the direction of Principal Investigator Emily Laird, RPA. The project consists of proposed satellite access node (SAN) facility with an overall height not to exceed 20 ft. and a total footprint of 14625.92 square ft. (1358.8 m2) including the compound, access, and all easements. The project footprint is considered the direct Area of Potential Effects. The visual APE was considered to be a 500 ft. radius surrounding the project area, based on the overall height. The proposed project location is in a mixed-use area consisting of a low-lying pasture grass. The surrounding view-shed, including the APE for visual effects, consists of the Central of Georgia Rail Road to the west and commercial properties to the east. No archaeological or historic resources were identified within the APE for direct effects. No archaeological sites or historic properties were identified within the APE for visual effects. ERM recommends a finding of no historic properties within the direct and visual APEs.
