A cultural resources survey of approximately 5 ½ miles has been completed for the Whissenhunt OHV Trail Project. New trail reroutes are proposed along with closure and rehabilitation of others. This 11 mile trail system has been in place for the last 25 years or more. Four prehistoric sites were noted in the trail corridor. Two sites are recommended as having an undetermined National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility and two sites are recommended as ineligible for the NRHP. The sites will be marked for protection and monitoring while the new trails or closure and rehabilitation is underway.
