Abstract

On July 8, 2020, Price Laird of ERM conducted a site visit at USDNN – Dalton, 3616 Chatsworth Highway, Whitfield County, Georgia for a proposed communications project. The project consists of a proposed satellite access node (SAN) facility with an overall height not to exceed 20-ft. and a total footprint of 4994 ft.2 (463.6 m2; 0.11 ac.) including the proposed lease area and proposed access/utility easements. The project footprint is considered the direct Area of Potential Effects (APE). The visual APE is a 500-foot radius surrounding the project area, based on the overall height not exceeding 20-ft.

The direct APE for the project area lies approximately 105 feet south-southeast of the Chatsworth Highway on a commercial lot within a grassy area. The terrain at the location is level, and consists of a manicured lawn. The surrounding area is varied in terrain, and is comprised of rolling hills, steep ridges and knobs, and floodplains. No archaeological or historic resources were identified within the areas of potential effects (APEs) for direct or visual effects. ERM recommends that the project will have no effect on any historic properties in the direct and visual APEs.
