Abstract

In April 2001 Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. archeologically surveyed four sections of the proposed Fall Line Freeway in Wilkinson and Baldwin Counties where the proposed route has shifted or expanded from the route that was surveyed in 1999. The sections range from 0.9 to 1.5 km in length and are of variable widths. Three of the four sections contained a site. These consisted of a twentieth century house site, a twentieth century artifact scatter and a sparse prehistoric lithic scatter. We recommend that all three sites are not eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places because they do not have further research potential (criterion d). Therefore, we conclude that the proposed shifts in the alignment of the Fall Line Freeway will have no effects on significant archeological sites.
