Abstract

Mr. Don Harrleson is considering selling a tract of land on the west side of Jones Fen-y Road in southern Fulton County, about 2 miles north of the Coweta County line and about 2.5 miles east of the Chattahoochee River (Figure 1). It is within the limits of the incorporated city of Chattahoochee Hills. For transfers of land containing cemeteries, the local governments (Chattahoochee Hills/Fulton County) require that the boundaries of cemeteries be determined by a professional archeologist and that a professional land surveyor map those boundaries and prepare a certified plat of the cemetery. The governments further require that a 3 5-foot buffer be added to the boundaries determined by the archeologist, and that this buffer be included in the platted extent of the cemetery. Our focus was on delineating boundaries of the cemetery and not recording information on markers or precisely counting the number of graves present.
