Abstract

In March of 2021, Cardno was contacted by Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company, LLC (Transco) in regards to a small area of their property just outside their Compressor Station 120 (CS 120 or Station 120) near Stockbridge, in Henry County, Georgia (Figure 1 ). The area in question is currently marked by four metal posts and exists on parcel 028-01020000 outside of the fenced portion of CS 120. The existing posts mark a rectangular area measuring approximately 35 meters long by 25 meters wide and lies adjacent to buildings associated with a communications tower at the site. It had recently come to the attention of Transco that the posts may mark the boundaries of a historic cemetery, and a ground penetrating radar (GPR) survey was requested to determine if any burials might exist within the area.

On April 13 and 14 of 2021, Cardno staff conducted a GPR survey of the project area (Figure 2 shown in blue). Staff also conducted historical background research at the Henry County Historical Society in McDonough, Georgia on April 14. All GPR data processing and additional research was completed by Cardno staff out of Riverview, Florida. The results of the GPR survey and historical background research are detailed in this report.
