Abstract

Viasat, Inc. (Viasat) proposes to construct, operate, and maintain a new satellite earth station (satellite) not to exceed 20 feet (ft) in height, located in Fannin County, Georgia (Project). The Project is in central Fannin County approximately 77 meters (m) south of Scenic Drive and 162 meters (m) northeast of Highway 76, approximately 1.04 kilometers (km) northeast from the community of Blue Ridge (Latitude/Longitude [NAD83]: 34.872525°, -84.328664°). Proposed plans include the establishment of an approximately 188-m-long by 6.1-m-wide access road beginning at Scenic Drive and traversing an existing parking lot in a generally southwest direction before exiting the parking lot and veering north to the pad location. Only approximately 15 meters of the access road is non-paved. The proposed pad, including workspace, measures 7.6-m by 8.5-m. A utility easement measuring 49-m by 6.1-m is proposed to extend southeast from the pad, and parallel to the parking lot to interconnect with existing utilities. The total Project area measures approximately 0.36 acre (ac) (0.15 hectare [ha]). A United States Geological Survey (USGS) map and aerial photograph of the Project location are provided in Figures 1 and 2 in the Figures and Photographs section at the end of the report.
