Abstract

Viasat, Inc. (Viasat) proposes to construct, operate, and maintain a new satellite earth station (satellite) not to exceed 20 feet (ft) in height, located in Pickens County, Georgia (Project). The Project is in northwest Pickens County approximately 29 meters (m) north of Old Talking Rock Highway and 104 m east of Creek Lane approximately 7.05 kilometers (km) northwest from the community of Jasper (Latitude/Longitude [NAD83]: 34.508825°, -84.489481°). Proposed plans include the construction of an approximately 32-m-long by 6.1-m-wide access road beginning at Old Talking Rock Highway and following an existing drive before turning northwest to the pad location. The proposed pad, including workspace, measures 7.6-m by 8.5-m. A small power easement measuring 3.0-m by 20-m is proposed from just north of Old Talking Rock Highway and extending north to the pad location. The total Project area measures approximately 0.08 acres (ac) (0.03 hectares [ha]). A United States Geological Survey (USGS) map and aerial photograph of the Project location are provided in Figures 1 and 2 in the Figures and Photographs section at the end of the report.
