Abstract

In response to a request from Ignite Wireless, Inc., RESCOM Environmental Corp (RESCOM) has completed a Phase Ia archaeological reconnaissance and records check for a proposed telecommunications tower site in Meriwether County, Georgia (Figure 1). The project is located directly east of Callaway St and north of a railroad in Manchester at 32°51'08.7"N 84°36'31.5"W as seen on the Manchester, GA, USGS 7.5' topographical quadrangle (Figure 2). The project area consists of a previously disturbed overgrown location and measures 50-ft by 50-ft for a proposed telecommunications tower site with a 119-ft by 20-ft access easement to the west where it meets Callaway St; approximately 0.1-acre in total (Figure 3).

An archaeological records check conducted on behalf of RESCOM by the UGA Laboratory of Archaeology via the Georgia Archaeological Site File (GASF) shows no archaeological sites overlapping the project area. Fieldwork was conducted on September 28, 2021 by archaeologist Stephen Nazian, University of South Florida 2008 under the supervision of Andrew Smith M.A., Ball State University 2010, Principal Investigator and Secretary of Interior qualified professional archaeologist.

This report details the results of the records check and Phase Ia field reconnaissance and presents the conclusions and recommendations of RESCOM concerning any additional archaeological investigations.
