Abstract

The goal and purpose of the archeological survey are defined so as to insure that no cultural resources on or eligible to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places will be adversely affected or impacted by the proposed construction of the interceptor sewer, in accordance with 36CFR800, et al.

The methods employed to identify and assess such resources are:

a) a records search of all documentary sources in local repositories, and

b) an intensive archeological survey, as directed in 36CFR66 (proposed) and guidelines issued by the Office of State Archeologist, January, 1977. The intensive survey employs a systematic on-the-ground search, using subsurface tests, sufficient to discover any possible significant archeological deposits that might be present but not readily visable on the surface.

The personnel involved in the project, both for archeological investigations and botanical investigations, have the required qualified training and experience. Resumes for each of the researchers is appended to this report.

The purpose of the botanical survey is compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, et al., and to identify any habitat containing rare, threatened, or endangered species or any species of such size and age as might be included in the natural heritage catagory. The report of the botanical. investigations follows the report of archeological research.
