Abstract

The proposed golf course area of Phase I development was subjected to a visual surface inspection by pedestrian survey. The entire property was examined in areas where the ground was not obscured by vegetation; e.g. roadbeds, wash-outs, footpaths, and fence lines. In vegetated areas, the ground cover was scraped aside at 10-foot intervals. In addition to the visual inspection of the surface, core samples (removed with a 4-inch bucket auger) were taken in selected areas of the property to inspect for possible subsurface features such as buried middens, cellars, wells, or graves (Figure 2).
