Abstract

The Covington/Newton County 201 Facilities Planning Study involved the survey of a parcel of land intended for use as a spray irrigated effluent recipient. The effluent will result from treatment by the City of Covington's Sewage Treatment Plant. The project study area is south of Covington, directly east of Flat Shoals Road (see map). Six varied size streams drain into Dried Indian Creek in the immediate area. The area is under heavy mixed pine and hardwood cover. Topography is rugged. Part of the project area is underlain by granite and part is underlain by Biotitic Gneiss/Mica Schist/Amphibolite.
