This report summarizes the results of an archaeological survey in Banks, Franklin, and Madison Counties, Georgia, performed at the request of the Soil Conservation Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. The locations investigated included 57 critically eroding surfaces and gullies and 10 eroded roadbanks within the Hudson River Watershed (Figure 1). The survey was conducted from May 14 through May 24, 1979, by Gary D. Barber, Laboratory of Archaeology, University of Georgia. Dr. Paul R. Fish of the University of Georgia Department of Anthropology was the principal investigator at the beginning of the project. In June this position was filled by Dr. David J. Hally.
