Abstract

Soil Systems, Inc., Earth Systems Division conducted an archaeological, botanical and wildlife survey for the proposed Thomaston, Georgia sewage collection facilities on May 7 and 8, 1980, at the request of Miller, Stevenson and Steinichen, Inc. Survey methods for the archaeological investigation included pedestrian survey, unstructured shovel cuts, auger tests and bank profiles. An on-ground survey was utilized for the botanical and wildlife survey. The archaeological survey recorded no significant cultural resources, either historic or prehistoric. Archaeological -clearance is therefore recommended for this project. An intensive botanical and wildlife survey revealed the area to be almost entirely within a young lowland hardwood forest. There were no significant biological resources located within the study corridor, therefore botanical and wildlife clearance is recommended for this project.
