Abstract

This cultural resource survey precedes the construction of waterbreaks at intervals along the old Logan Turnpike in White County to control erosion and vehicular traffic. The property is located on Tract 2131 of Compartment 544, Chestatee Ranger District, Chattahoochee National Forest, Georgia. Figures 1 and 2 indicate the property, which is in Land lots 60, 61, and 62 of District 4, Section 1.

The property can be reached from Georgia Highway 129 by turning north on Ketchum Road and continuing for 2 miles through private property. The selected portion of the road covers approximately 2 more miles into Tesnatee Gap at the Blue Ridge Highway. The Cultural Resources survey was performed on September 9, 1980, by the author and Chestatee Forestry Technician Wayne Herron.
