A Cultural Resources Survey of the Littleton Land Exchange Habersham County, Georgia

Abstract

A cultural resources survey was conducted on a tract of Chattahoochee National Forest in preparation for a land exchange with Mr. James Littleton of Habersham County, Ga. The J. K. Burns Tract R-2l7 was involved.

The location is District 12 - Habersham County approximately 6 miles east of Clarkesville and 6 miles northwest of Toccoa (Figure 1). The tract is 376.26 acres within Ga. land lot numbers 9S and 117 (Figure 2). The property is accessible by highway 17 and Antioch Road which runs through the north and central portions respectively. Antioch Church is outside the N.W. boundary, and there is a Forest Service marker located in a spring a few hundred feet east of the church.

The survey was conducted on August S, 6, and 7, 1980, by the authors and YACC personnel, Troy Abernathy, James Ferguson, Carla Loudermilk and Lisa Pruitt. Further investigations were conducted on September 24, 1980, and January 12 and 13, 1981, with assistance of Curtis Humphrey.
