Abstract

An eighty-two acre tract of upland forest will become a public recreation area, maintained by the Tennessee Valley Authority. Prior to the Installation of facilities, TVA engaged this author to conduct a reconnaissance of the tract, to determine the likelihood of significant cultural resources being located there. Three days were spent in the field, searching intuitively for evidences of prehistoric and early historic activity. Two sites were located, both surface scatters of lithic material. It is adjudged that the sites have minimal archaeological value and require no further mitigation of possible impact.
