An archaeological survey for prehistoric and historic sites was conducted at 8 small tracts along Clark Hill Reservoir and at 7 small tracts along Hartwell Reservoir. Both reservoirs the Savannah River in Georgia and South Carolina. The work was conducted by the Department of Anthropology, University of Georgia at the request of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District. No cultural remains were found at the survey areas along Hartwell Reservoir. In the Clark Hill Reservoir, 5 archaeological sites were found. Evaluation of two sites required additional historical research. Two other sites required limited test excavation for evaluation. One site had been completely destroyed, Only one site, a large Archaic quartz quarry, was considered eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. It was recommended that this site be protected from damage caused by construction activities.
