Abstract

Cultural Resources Surveys were conducted in March and August, 1988, on two parcels of National Forest land in the Brasstown Ranger District, Chattahoochee National Forest, Union County, Georgia. These parcels were proposed for land exchange with private land owners. The Nichols tract had 199 acres, and the Twiggs tract had 169 acres, both very rugged uplands. In addition, two small parcels of Forest timber land (another 63 acres) were surveyed near the Twiggs tract for a total of 431 acres. Survey revealed one prehistoric lithic scatter site on the Twiggs tract which was heavily disturbed, and not significant. Thus cultural resources clearance is recommended for all three projects.
