Abstract

A Phase I cultural resource survey of the proposed Steinhauer Road Bridge Project #32-7019-8724 in Cobb County, Georgia was conducted by the Cobb County Archaeological Research Laboratory for the Cobb County Department of Transportation. The project setting is a two lane bridge crossing a tributary of Rubes Creek. A head gate and sluice system were found on the southwest bank of the tributary and a dam remnant and foundation wall were found on the northeast bank. It is recommended eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. No further work is suggested, however, active tree fencing along the construction easement is recommended to protect the historic sites.
