Abstract

Cultural resources surveys have been conducted on the Tallulah Ranger District, Chattahoochee National Forest prior to Forest Service activities. These surveys were located in portions of compartments 32, 37, 38, 43, 44, 48, 50, 51, 57, 62, 63, 64, 65, and 106 in Rabun County, Georgia. A total area of 1546 acres were surveyed. A total of 19 sites were recorded. The sites range from prehistoric Indian campsites to historic period farmsteads. Two of the sites are considered to be significant or potentially so, and should be protected from disturbance until they can be investigated under 36 CFR 60 criteria for the National Register of Historic Places. Site types and recommendations are shown in Table 2.
