Abstract

A cultural resource survey has been completed for the Upper Chattahoochee Recreation Area, on the Chattooga Ranger District, Chattahoochee National Forest. This survey was undertaken prior to development and improvements to this area. Approximately 10-15 acres were surveyed along the Chattahoochee River and Hensen Creek near the White, Union, and Towns County lines. One historic site was found and determined ineligible for the National Register due to the heavy disturbance from past activities. Three members of the Georgia Mountains Archeological Society volunteered for the day to assist in testing this site. Thanks goes to Pearl Wilson, Myrtle Stroud, and Dick Stone.
