Abstract

This report presents the findings of an archeological survey of a 0.589 acre Next Generation Weather Radar (NEXRAD) tower location, a 1.68 acre access road for this tower, a 0.083 acre communications easement for this tower, and a 1.8 acre National Weather Service (NWS) office property, all of which are located within the corporate boundaries of Peachtree City, Fayette County, Georgia. No archeological sites or isolated artifacts were identified by this survey. The NEXRAD tower location adjoins a historic cemetery, however, probing of all suspect locations along this boundary indicates that there are no unmarked graves within the NEXRAD property. It is recommended that the project be allowed to proceed without further cultural resource requirements, however, the construction crews should be aware of the possibility that unmarked graves may yet be discovered within the NEXRAD property, and should be vigilant for their discovery.
