Abstract

This report documents the results of the cultural resources survey of the proposed Sewer Line Corridor for Mountain City, Rabun County, Georgia. This cultural resources survey project was subcontracted to Garrow & Associates, Inc., Atlanta by G. Ben Turnipseed Engineers, Atlanta. The field survey was conducted on September 11, 1991. A section of the abandoned Tallulah Falls Railroad bed exists within the project area, as does a twentieth-century concrete springhouse. One prehistoric isolated find was discovered during the survey, but was recovered from redeposited road fill at the base of U.S. Route 441, immediately outside of the project area. No significant prehistoric or historic sites were encountered in the current project area. Consequently, no additional archaeological investigations are recommended prior to construction of this project.
