Abstract

This report represents an addendum to the volume entitled "Phase I Cultural Resources Inventory of the Georgia Portion of the Proposed Southern Natural Gas Company Georgia-Alabama Settlement Facilities Project" (Berkin et al. 1995). This addendum contains the results of Phase I cultural resources survey of a requested extension to Access Road 1-3 to be used during the construction of the 19.3 km (12 mi), 30 in O.D. Macon Branch Replacement Line and the 30 O.D. Ocmulgee-Atlanta Loop Replacement Line Project (Loop 1) natural gas pipeline, in Clayton and Henry counties, Georgia. This survey was conducted by R. Christopher Goodwin & Associates, Inc., on March 18, 1996. Survey included both windshield and pedestrian survey of the entire length and width of the planned access road extension; reconnaissance survey was augmented by the excavation of 10 judgmentally placed shovel tests. No cultural material was recovered as a result of this Phase I cultural resources inventory. No additional testing of the access road extension is recommended.
