Abstract

R. S. Webb & Associates conducted an archeological resources survey for Oglethorpe Power Corporation's proposed Walnut Grove 230 kV substation site in April 1997. The survey was performed to locate and identify archeological resources within the project area and assess resource significance based on National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) criteria [36 CFR Part 60.4]. The project area is located in Walton County, south of the community of Youth. The substation site covers approximately 0.71 hectares (1.77 acres). No archeological resources were detected during the field survey of the proposed Walnut Grove 230 kV substation site. Based on the survey findings, no further archeological resources work is recommended for the project area.
