Abstract

In October 1995, Garrow & Associates, Inc., under a contract with Columbia Engineering, completed a cultural resource survey for the proposed intersection improvements for the realignment of Rockdale Circle, Georgia Highway 84, and U.S. Highway 78, Gwinnett County, Georgia. The project area encompassed approximately 44 acres and included portions of Rockdale Circle, U.S. Highway 78, Georgia Highway 84, and Old Grayson Road in Snellville, Georgia. The field survey consisted of shovel testing and visual inspection at 30 m intervals. Nineteen transects were placed within the project area. Three historic archaeological sites were discovered during the survey. Sites 9GW341, 9GW342, and 9GW343 are recommended as ineligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). One isolated find was also recovered; it is recommended as ineligible for the NRHP.
