Abstract

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey on December 8, 1999 and March 6, 2000 of the proposed I-75/Eagles Landing Interchange Improvements in Henry County, Georgia. The project area, at that time, consisted of several different components which included the reconfiguration and reconstruction of the existing interchange, widening of Hudson Bridge Road/Eagles Landing Road, and improvements to Rock Quarry Road/Country Club Drive. Also included was the construction of the Patrick Henry Parkway whose right-of-way extends between C01.mtTy Club Drive to Eagles Landing Parkway. The addendum to the project consists of the extension of improvements along I-75 to the north and south. To the north, the interstate will be widened or improved approximately 3,600 feet farther than the original. To the south, only the east side will be widened or improved to approximately 1,600 feet past the original study area. All widening and improvements will be contained within the existing 1-75 right-of-way (Figure 1). This addendum report contains only a discussion of the survey of the original right-of-way, a description of the additional work performed, and conclusions regarding the findings of this project. The reader is referred to the original report for the prehistoric and historic overview. The Principal Investigator for this study was J. W. Joseph, PhD. The Field Director and report author was Theresa M. Hamby.
