Abstract

An intensive archeological survey was conducted on July 24, 2001 for a proposed realignment of 275 m (900 ft) of Ironbelt Road at its intersection with U.S. 41 northwest of Cartersville, Georgia. This pre-construction survey was conducted to determine if significant archeological sites (those eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places) were present in the area of potential effect for the project and, if so, whether they would be adversely affected by the proposed construction. No archeological sites were recorded. We therefore recommend that the project be allowed to proceed.
