Abstract

A cultural resources survey of the bridge crossing of Deep Creek on SR 112 in Turner County, Georgia, was conducted by New South Associates February 27 and 28, 2001. A 1,000 foot approach with a 200 foot wide right-of-way was studied on either side of the bridge. Portions of two previously recorded archaeological sites, 9TN26 and 9TN27 are located within the right-of-way on the western side of the bridge on opposite sides of the creek. When previously recorded, no recommendation as to their National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility was included. The crew relocated the margins of these sites, but no new archaeological sites were found. Neither the portion of site 9TN26 nor that of site 9TN27 within the right-of-way appear eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. No further cultural resources study of the bridge crossing is recommended.
