Abstract

A Phase I survey at Thurmond Lake in MCDuffie County, Georgia was conducted by New South Associates July 23 - 26, 2001. A total of 81 acres was surveyed. The primary goal of the survey was to identify and to determine the National Register eligibility of sites within the survey area. Five prehistoric archaeological sites (9MF890, 9MF891, 9MF190, 9MF892, and 9MF893) were located within the survey area. Additionally, one isolated find was recorded. Sites 9MF890 and 9MF891 are considered potentially eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. Sites 9MF190, 9MF892, 9MF893, and the isolated find are considered ineligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
