Abstract

An intensive archeological survey was conducted on the proposed Town Center Sidewalks, Phase 3, in the Galleria Area of Cobb County, Georgia. The project involves the addition of 10 foot (3.1 m) sidewalks along portions of Springhill Parkway, Paces Ferry Road, Springhill Road, and Atlanta Road, together totaling about 1.9 mi (3.1 km). The project occurs in a heavily developed section of southern Cobb County, and virtually the entire project area was completely graded and developed. However, we walked the entire length of the project corridor, and excavated three shovel tests in areas that appeared at least somewhat less disturbed. No artifacts were recovered, and no sites were encountered on the survey. It is therefore the opinion of the Principal Investigator that the proposed construction will have no effect on significant archeological resources.
