Abstract

R.S. Webb & Associates conducted an archeological resources survey of the proposed Grimes Bridge Road at Big Creek project area in May 1997, and updated survey data in January 2003. The survey's goal was locate and identify archeological resources within the project area and assess resource significance based on National Register of Historic Places criteria [36 CFR Part 60.4]. The study area is approximately 2.8 hectares (7 acres) surrounding the Grimes Bridge Road and Oxbo Road intersection located in the City of Roswell, Fulton County, Georgia. Approximately 0.56 hectares (1.4 acres) of the project area is within National Park Service land. Two historic archeological resources were identified during the field survey of the study area: one 19' through early 20th century bridge site and one 19th though early 20' century retaining wall. These resources are recommended ineligible for the National Register of Historic Places and no further archeological work is warranted.
