Abstract

On November 14, 2002, Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. (SAS) archeologically surveyed six highway/street intersections in the city of Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia (Figure 1). The survey was undertaken to ensure that the Georgia Department of Transportation is in compliance with Federal regulations concerning the disposition and protection of significant cultural resources (National Historic Preservation Act of 1966--as amended). One intersection lies within the Greene Street Historic District and one lies within the Broad Street Historic District. No archeological sites were discovered at any of the intersections, and no further archeological studies are needed at these intersections.
