Abstract

Cypress Cultural Consultants conducted a 128 acre survey for Whisenhunt Children, Inc in order to locate cultural resources eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Current plans for the tract involves the development of a residential neighborhood along Uchee Creek. The original request for a survey only included 108 acres but was later expanded to include an additional 20 acres. The project area has been significantly impacted by historic activities. These activities include drainage modifications, road construction, and clear-cutting. One historic/prehistoric site, 09CB613, was located during the survey. The site has been severely eroded and contains little intact cultural deposits. Thus, Cypress Cultural Consultants recommends that it is not eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. In addition, no historic structures were found within the project boundaries. The development of the residential dwellings will have no adverse effect to any properties potentially eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
