Abstract

Under a continuing services contract with the U.S. Army Infantry Center, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Fort Benning Military Reservation, Panamerican Consultants, Inc. (PCI) conducted an intensive archaeological survey of 550 acres within selected areas of land management Training Area E4 at Fort Benning, Georgia. This work was undertaken in compliance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1996. A total of 29 archaeological loci (24 sites and five isolated finds) were identified during the project. Of these sites, three (9CE99, 9CE100/114, 9CE 1963) are recommended as indeterminate for inclusion into the NRHP as the result of previous survey. Of the remaining sites, seven (9CE2299, 9CE2302, 9CE2304, 9CE2311, 9CE2313, 9CE2317, and 9CE2319), are recommended as indeterminate for inclusion. The remaining 19 sites are recommended to be ineligble for inclusion into the NRHP.
