Abstract

Under a continuing services contract with the U.S. Army Infantry Center, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Fort Benning Military Reservation, Panamerican Consultants, Inc. (PCI) conducted an intensive archaeological survey of 1,349 acres within selected areas of land management Training Areas 011 and 012 at Fort Benning, Georgia. This work was undertaken in compliance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1996. A total of 44 archaeological loci (34 sites, 10 isolated finds) were identified during the project. Six of the sites (9ME224, 9ME1120, 9ME1127, 9ME1129, 9ME1147, and 9ME1154) are recommended as indeterminate for inclusion in the NRHP. The remaining 38 loci are deemed ineligible for inclusion in the NRHP.
