Abstract

Addendum to Phase I Archaeological Survey of SR 85/74 Bridge Replacement Over Pappy's Creek, Meriwether County, Georgia. The original design for the proposed project would use the current alignment and replace the existing bridge with a new 40-foot wide bridge that is approximately 120 feet in length. This new bridge would contain two 12-foot travel lanes and 6-foot shoulders. The roadway approaches would consist of two 12-foot travel lanes, 10-foot shoulders (8-foot paved, 2-foot unpaved), and rural side ditches. A maximum of 220 feet of right-of-way would be required. During construction, traffic would be diverted to a temporary on-site detour bridge constructed west of the existing bridge. Current changes to the project design include: the bridge length has increased from 120 to 135 feet. Easements for the construction of two sediment basins have been added. The two basins are to be located on the west side of SR 85/74, at stations 18-00 and 23-25. The maximum right-of-way width has increased from 220 feet to 255.
