Abstract

Under a continuing services contract with the U.S. Army Infantry Center, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Fort Benning Military Reservation, Panamerican Consultants, Inc. (PCI) conducted an intensive archaeological survey of 1701 acres within selected areas of land management Training Areas U2 and U3 at Fort Benning, Georgia. This work was undertaken in compliance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1996. A total of 45 archaeological loci (37 sites and eight isolated finds) were identified during the project. Two of the sites (9ME1162 and 9ME1205) were recommended as indeterminate. The remaining 43 sites are deemed ineligible for inclusion in the NRHP. Protective measures are recommended for 9ME 1162 and 9ME 1205.
