Abstract

This is a GDOT report short form for negative findings for a Phase I Archaeological Survey of Two Intersection Improvement Locations in North Fulton County, Georgia. The proposed project would improve the intersection of SR 372/Birmingham Highway at CR 27/Providence/New Providence Road north of the community of Crabapple in Fulton County. The existing intersection has a skew angle of 25 degrees and is Stop sign controlled on CR 27/Providence/New Providence Road. SR 372/Birmingham Highway and CR 27/Providence/New Providence Road are two-lane facilities with 12-foot lanes and rural shoulders of variable width. The existing right-of-way on SR 372/Birmingham Highway varies from approximately 45 feet to 70 feet in width. The existing right-of-way on CR 27/Providence/New Providence Road is approximately 60 feet in width. The project consists of realigning CR 27/Providence/New Providence Road approximately 500 feet to the north so that the intersecting skew angle with SR 372/Birmingham Highway would be approximately 70 degrees. Left and right turn lanes would be added to both roads. Traffic signal system would be installed at the intersection. Proposed right-of-way would vary from approximately 80 to 120 feet on both roadways. The total length of the proposed project along SR 372/Birmingham Highway would be approximately 1,320 feet (0.25 mile) and along CR 27/Providence/New Providence Road would be approximately 2,375 feet (0.45 mile).
