Abstract

This project is a wetland mitigation site located on the border of Dekalb and Rockdale counties. Proposed restoration activities are expected to enhance the ecological and hydrological functions of the proposed mitigation area. They include the restoration of a 200 foot riparian buffer along 13, 235 linear feet of the South River and will involve minor grading and planting of native shrubs and trees. The Southerness tract is located on the boundary of Dekalb and Rockdale counties. The tract consists of approximately 100 acres situated along the south bank of the South River. The tract is bounded by old Flat Bridge Road on its western end. A large lake is included within the tract. The lake extends south from the river and touches Flat Bridge Road.
