Abstract

This is an addendum to archeological survey for the proposed bridge replacement at SR 85A over CSX Transportation Railroad, Meriwether County, Georgia. Project Changes since approved CE: The proposed project would reconstruct the structurally deficient bridge on SR 85 Alternate over the CSX Railroad. The proposed bridge would be reconstructed on the existing bridge alignment. The roadway would be closed and an offsite detour utilized during the construction of the proposed bridge. The southern project terminus would be approximately 125 feet north of the intersection of SR 85A with US 27/SR 41. The northern project terminus would be at the intersection of SR 85A with Stevens Street. The total project length would be approximately 700 feet (0.13 mile). The existing bridge is approximately 115 feet long and 40 feet wide and accommodates two 12-foot wide travel lanes and a sidewalk on the west side of the bridge. The existing SR 85A ROW varies from approximately 50 ft to 100 ft. The proposed bridge would be approximately 171 ft long and 48 ft wide to accommodate two 12-ft travel lanes and 12-ft shoulders with 5-ft sidewalks and 4-ft bike lanes. The maximum required ROW width would be approximately 140 ft. The proposed project would also require approximately 0.24 acre of temporary easement from the railroad and approximately 0.01 acre temporary driveway easement.
