Abstract

During the period of August 14 through September 15, 2000, R.S. Webb & Associates conducted testing at Sites 9EB 134, 9EB526, 9EB678, 9EB681 and 9EB682 at the Richard B. Russell State Park Golf Course Site. These sites had been recorded during the survey of the property in the fall of 1999 (Vehling 2000a). A combination of close-grid shovel testing, structured test unit and feature excavation was used to evaluate the five sites. Unit placement was based on artifact density and relative soil depths and/or feature. The two larger units were located where artifact density was highest. The 50 by 50-cm unit was excavated to sample deposits in an area that produced few artifacts. Artifacts and field data were returned to the lab for cleaning and analysis.
