Abstract

The original project description, issued on January 9, 2008 is as follows: The proposed project would consist of the extension of SR 382 on new location from CR 239/Old SR 5 to SR 5/SR 515 just south of Ellijay, Gilmer County. In addition, left and right turn lanes would be constructed on SR 382, CR 239/Old SR 5, and SR 5/SR 515 at their intersections with the proposed SR 382 Extension. SR 382 Extension would consist of two 12-foot lanes with 10-foot shoulders on approximately 125 feet to 375 feet of varying right-of-way. The total project length would be approximately 1.63 miles. Since the initial project notification, the project has been revised as follows: The project has been lengthened 538 feet on SR 382 west of the intersection with CR 239/Old SR 5. The project has been lengthened approximately 290 feet along SR 382 south of the proposed intersection. The alignment of SR 382 west of the intersection with CR 239/Old SR 5 has been shifted approximately 50 feet to the south, eliminating the need for ROW north of the road. The project has been extended along CR 239/Old SR 5 approximately 500 feet, requiring three additional driveway easements. Also, the project now includes minor amounts of additional right-of-way in areas along SR 382 and CR 239/Old SR 5, due to design revisions. An archaeological survey consistent with the project specifications and revisions was conducted along the project corridor.
