Abstract

On behalf of Piedmont Healthcare, Inc. and in compliance with the process for obtaining a United States Army Corps of Engineers Nationwide Permit, Terracon Consultants, Inc. conducted a Phase I intensive archaeological survey of approximately 105 acres in central Coweta County, Georgia. The tract is the proposed location of the new Piedmont Newnan Hospital. The survey resulted in the identification of eleven previously-unidentified cultural resources, including five archaeological sites and six isolated finds. Table 1 presents a summary of these cultural resources and recommendations for their eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). In sum, one of these sites is recommended potentially eligible for the NRHP while the remaining ten are recommended as ineligible for listing in the NRHP.
