Report Number

Year of Publication

Abstract

The proposed project would replace the CR 67 bridge spanning Mill Creek in Baker County. The existing bridge is a 120 foot X 22 foot timber and concrete structure, and would be replaced with a 120 foot X 28 foot concrete structure on existing alignment. CR 67 will be closed during construction utilizing an off-site detour. Existing right-of-way is 80 feet; an additional 25 feet of right-of-way will be required on the east side of CR 67. The project length is approximately 1130 feet. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted for the entire length of the project corridor. An archaeological survey (Level II) was conducted in accordance with "GDOT/FHWA Cultural Resource Survey Guidelines" developed by the GDOT Staff Archaeologists in consultation with DNR Historic Preservation Division Staff and concurred in by the Federal Highway Administration and State Historic Preservation Officer. These guidelines provide general survey boundaries and methodological approaches to archaeological surveys based on the type/scope of work of proposed highway projects and are followed during the initial identification of archaeological resources.
